TMD’s Shakara interviews Mikel Holt

Hello again family,

I hope you were able to check out the first episode of the UWM campus TV show I founded, The U-View.

On the second episode, I interviewed Mikel Holt of the the Milwaukee Community Journal. You will learn A LOT from Mr. Holt about the history of black journalism here in Milwaukee.

Check it out at Once you get to the home page, it’s the first video on the left labeled ” U-View looks at the history of African American journalism in Milwaukee”.

About Shakara

I am a recent UWM grad with a bachelor's degree in journalism. My goal is to have my own television show where I can reach out to my people. I also desire to have a youth center for inner city kids struggling to find guidance. I will be starting a radio show in summer 2012...Brown Sugar & Spice.

I am sorry to tell you but black man did not invent the a/c. He did invent something like the a/c for use on truck, but not the actual a/c as we know it. The air conditioner was invented by Willis Carrier in 1902 in Buffalo, NY. Frederick McKinley Jones invented the first automatic refrigeration system for long-haul … Jones was the first person to invent a practical, mechanical refrigeration system for trucks and railroad cars, … Thermo King C Refrigeration Unit (1940).
Frederick McKinley Jones was one of the most prolific Black inventors ever. Frederick Jones patented more than sixty inventions, however, he is best known for inventing an automatic refrigeration system for long-haul trucks in 1935 (a roof-mounted cooling device). Jones was the first person to invent a practical, mechanical refrigeration system for trucks and railroad cars, which eliminated the risk of food spoilage during long-distance shipping trips. The system was, in turn, adapted to a variety of other common carriers, including ships. Frederick Jones was issued the patent on July 12, 1940 (#2,303,857). Please do not pass on misinformation or try to change the truth. Also research your list of black inventors. Yes, black people have invented many things used today. As a teacher who is a minority(black Hispanic) and teacher of minority children I want to pass on the truth to my students. Thanks! God bless.
