  1. Greetings,
My name is Tahir (dead prez producer). I have a music series called “The BlakkBerry Filez”. I have released 5 volumes from this series in 2009 and scheduling volume 6 release for the new year. The vibe is revolutionary and responsible hip hop. If possible, I would like my work to be reviewed on your site. For my songs, videos, and more info go to http://www.TahirRBG.ning.com. If you need anything sent to you (songs, pics, bio, etc.) just let me know. Thanks for your consideration, time, and (hopefully) response.

    Peace! – Tahir

  2. WOW, I love it!! Excellent job on re-doing the look of this site. Kudos to all who worked on this. And Blackness thanks for all of the Black History Month info. I will take my time reading every thing.

You have put a lot of hard work into all of this. I only wish there was a phone number to reach you at.

  3. This site looks terrible….needs major clean up (in terms of nasty URLs strewn all over, bleeding into other words). Needs to be more cohesive.

    • From Anonymous: “Queen Ifama you are absolutely right. Do you mind sharing who the authors are so I can reach out to them? Thank you.”

Anonymous, I haven’t a clue as to who the author/s are/is, even though, trust me I have asked. I don’t even know why your comment quoted above was not on this page, which is why I cut and pasted it. I guess the anonimity of the creator must be because it is possibly not SAFE to reveal who he/she really is. The backlash could possibly cause loss of earnings or worst, you see what happened to Michael McGee, whose tactics, I disagreed with but knew and understood his heart was in the right place, even though his ego was in the wrong one. IN this culture/society, it just isn’t safe to be an outspoken Black man or women who can connect like minded individuals who may possibly get together and do something. History is ripe with that FACT. So I see the authors have spruced up the site. I think it looks okay but then I am not into the aesthetics of a site unless I am spending money, LOL. I basically like the interaction between minds here. Take care.

      • @Queen – much of what you say is applicable as to why some of the authors would rather not use their government names. We aren’t receiving any compensation or advertising dollars. The site is trying to bring together people in the community (like yourself) that have something to say. Thank you for helping us move forward.

  4. Anonymous, you can always lend your asistance in directing the authors of this page to the urls that need to be cleaned up and how to position words on the page. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated. Everyone is not a web “master” such as yourself or rather you “appear” to be and could use some guidance. I am sure they would accept it graciously. NUFF SAID

  5. Queen Ifama you are absolutely right. Do you mind sharing who the authors are so I can reach out to them? Thank you.

    • Anonymous (not sure you are the same person, different IP Address), feel free to submit you feedback to our inbox found on the main page. It is for anyone that would like to submit information or advice. This site isn’t sensitive about hearing feedback. However, the site has been updated and the comments you (I think) submitted 2 months ago aren’t valid any longer. The url issue had to do with our prior format and twitter comments.

Again, feel free to say what you’d like in our inbox or if you like to leave an assessment of this new look it can be done here as well.

  6. I didn’t appreciate the out of context comments I made that were posted on Facebook that was an exchange between myself and another person that was made public on Earl Ingram. I am not happy about it. If you need clarity, you could’ve contacted me. It appeared that I had conflict with Ingram because I wasn’t part of his show anymore. I don’t have any beef with that. I march on despite the changes.

  7. I thought this was the area that reveals the “real” names of individuals publishing this site. Well, I guess intellectual thoughts are anonymous (sarcasm). My real name is used for my comments. I am proud of who I am and I am proud of my name. Isn’t an individuals name one of the identifiers of their existence? Please respond intellectual thinkers or do we need a “true’” intellectual, Cornell West, to respond for you. He uses his real name.

  8. OMG! The pubishers of this website actually have the word “bitch” next to Jerry Ann Hamilton’s name under tags on your home page. This is getting dangerous and “out of control.” “God does not like ugly.” Apparently there aren’t many readers, because there aren’t many comments. Thank God for that!!! This website will eventrually not exist. This is my last comment.

    • @B.Hamilton-WIlliams – slow down and understand that what you see is a Tag Cloud. That word “Bitch” is part of the Tag from Ieshuh Griffin Not The White Man’s Bitch campaign slogan. Please stop coming to start trouble at The Drum. If you don’t understand what you are seeing, feel free to ask. But that word before your mother’s name is part of something else.

The only thing written about your mother on The Drum has been sent to us from The NAACP Insiders that send the same emails to everyone else in this town.

Thank you for reading The Drum, but we have no beef with your mother. I believe you and some other people have other battles to wage instead of creating a boogie man of The Drum.

  9. First of all i am a 41 year old white man, i work in the north side of Milwaukee. I am not here to judge (i heard about the rally on the radio and am curious) i just have some questions if some of you would be kind enough to answer. Are you or do you consider yourselves part of the tea party movement? (if your beliefs are close, you would be kindly accepted) Is the main goal of your cause self reliance and responsibility? Do you believe in taking responsibilty for your race? Do you believe in limited government in your lives? Do you belive the idea of the “government owes us”? Please do not be offended by my questions, yes i am white and proud, i want nothing from anyone that i can do for myself, i believe in confronting stupidity in my race, i believe in self reliance and responsibilty. I want less goverment in my life and wallet. I want a country where races get along, not because it’s politcally correct, but because every race learns to repect and police thier own (which would break down many bad stereo types) I want different races to get along because of a common goal and cause….a great america. I can see by looking at this page, that you are proud of your heritage, as i am of mine (yet there is many failures on both sides) I hope for a day when people stop saying be color blind, why? Your black i’m white so what! We all live here for a short time. let’s stop trying to convince everyone we are the same, we are not, but we can still strive for a common goal…a good honest life.

  10. Dear Karl,
This site is the vision of marvelous people who felt compelled to share their knowledge and pass on the voices of others who may not think as they do, but respect the need to talk it out and share news from all over. Drum also allows people to have access to unfiltered and unbiased media that is not censored or bought and paid for. It is like the Drum of our ancestors pounding out the rythms of our lives!!

This site has many contributors with varying opinions. We all agree there must be change but how to get to that change we have many different views.

A good honest life is a great goal, but from where some of us sit, there is little to no opportunity as racism is still so predominant in our culture and especially in our city as it was just voted #1 segregated city in the country.

Please do read a sample from each of the contributors located on the homepage on your left side. You will see a little bio about each of us and from the stories and conversations, you will start to get a feel for where we all come from. We all have differnet backgrounds and ages but we all strive for equality and freedom if I make take the liberty to say that for all of us.

Drum was created to share these differnt voices with you and with the world and we debate, find common ground, or agree to disagree but we are ALL family here in this space.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you in one of the conversations soon. All are welcome here!
Speaking for only myself but as a contributor to Milwaukee Drum.

    Peace,

  11. First of all I’d like to say Hotep/Salam/Shalom/Amen to all. I appreciate and respect all those here who r sincere, and seeking out a solution to the problem of world imperialism. I’d jus like to say that in order to find truth, one must look in all places with an open mind. The problem with many non-people of color is they refuse to embrace the facts of imperialism/colonialism, any only want to deal with the effect rather than the cause. As long as the world has the mentality of ‘it’s too late to deal with the fact that all non-european countries are still under imperialism’…the solution will remain far off. It’s like Dr. Khalid Muhammad said regarding the invasion/rape/murder/occupation of Afraka and other countries…”If a burglar bumrushes your home, and rapes everybody in the house, pillages your home, and parlays your property to create wealth for himself, then later on wants to live in peace with you and share your home, you are not obligated to share your home with him.” This is the perfect analogy for Afraka. Unless it is acknowledged that Afraka should be free of ALL outside forces/influences.

On a different note, I’ve been trying contact you all here to network with you. I’m a native of Milwaukee, and still reside here. My organization is striving to do the exact same things you’re doing..check it out.

    • Review by J. Byrne for Rating: This is the Dream Cheeky USB drum kit. Buyers must be prepared for one quirk: the porcudt stinks. Literally. It smells similar to a tire store but worse. If you’re going to give this as a gift, I suggest removing it from the box to air it out before passing on.The software is easy to install, starts up quickly, and is somewhat easy to use. I wish it had a mode like guitar-hero for practice. (At least, I haven’t found such a mode.) It comes with various loops and beats and has graphics reminiscent of GH.The pad itself is small and sensitive to hands as well as drumsticks. I bought this for my young son, but I think even an adult player would find it useful/fun.

  12. I just read your story regarding the 8th assembly race. You clearly have not done any research on the issues or Rep. Zamarripa. We rae pround of our Rep. Zamarripa here in the 8th. Good thing you do not live here because you would be the lone voice of misinformation. You endorse Laura Manriquez, a woman who has held no public office nor has she been a leader in the Latino Community. If you would have done your research, you would have known that Manriquez was disciplined by the licensing board for taking narcotic/pain medication from a patient. In fact, her LPN license is now severely restricted because of her actions and disregrad for the health and welfare of her patients. It’s so restricted that she no longer can get a job as an LPN. You do your Community a disservice by not reporting the truth adn your animous against Latinos and teh LGBT Community is very clear. Too bad for you that law breaker Manriquez will lose tomorrow.

  13. To even begin to innovate and educate you need to get your facts right! There is an inordinate amount of inaccurate information here. I was initially excited to find this page. I now find it a little embarrassing that you are feeding incorrect information. A little bit of hard work would have helped. I am very disappointed.

  14. Here is a web site that will help all Americans, in the black, hispanic, white and all other neighborhoods. http://www.flexyourrights.org This is a web site that will teach people how to handle themselves in police encounters. While walking, driving, or in your home. Look it up. Learn and order the informational dvd’s, and flex your rights.

There are people in Washington who want to destroy the constitution. Wake up before it’s to late. This web site should be the first step for all of us, to not just say “I know my rights”, but it teaches you to really know your rights, what they mean and how to empower yourself to be assertive knowledgeable active citizens. How long have we been told “knowledge is power”? In this case, it is true.

Good luck and good learning. Next we need to get rid of Police Chief Flynn.
If anyone would like to respond, please feel free to do so.
