Black America and Obama: The Cost of Silence
Black America and Obama: The Cost of Silence

Nothing But The Truth
Since the 2008 election of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States, numerous constituencies have experienced some measure of social uplift as they have exercised their political strength in compelling the administration to advance their interests.
This reality prevails, as the Hispanic community, ever politically cognizant of Obama’s campaign promises ensuring his commitment to the body’s general prosperity, observed the 2009 nomination and installment of Justice Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court.
Latino Americans would further realize a social triumph, as this population in the late spring and summer months of last year asserted their increasing political might in pressuring the White House to maneuver on behalf the collective in halting Arizona’s veiled efforts to establish an apartheid state in its attempt to enact Arizona Senate Bill 1070.
Not only have Hispanic Americans utilized their political capital in prompting the Obama Administration to function as a proponent for measures that would ensure greater degrees of group wealth but so too has another population.
The gay community in December of last year witnessed the culmination of an enormous protracted effort to force the federal government to end what they and many others believed to be a human rights violation. The repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” — the United States military’s policy rendering gay and lesbian armed service members unable to divulge their sexual orientation absent penalty — served as an enormous step in the gay community’s fight for an equitable standing within American society.
In the face of these monumental victories experienced by the Hispanic and gay communities in imposing their political will on the Obama administration to act as an advocate in forwarding each group’s agenda, the president’s most loyal constituents have yet to collectively enter into such interactions with the Head of State – even though their needs are the greatest. The reason for this circumstance may perhaps exist as a product of an aged African American conviction.
The African-American community has long functioned as an integral force behind the Democratic Party and even more so as a stalwart supporter of the institution’s latest lead official, President Obama. It is a population however, that has historically experienced enormous suffering, not withstanding its current condition which further serves to extend this troubled legacy.
A Black populace devastated more than any other by the country’s economic crisis as reflected by a 16% unemployment rate – approximately twice that of white Americans.
A community whose youth ever increasingly attend monumentally failing public schools – such institutions serving as no more than temporary holding facilities before nearly a third of its male populations drift into the tide of the prison industrial complex.
A constituency that comprises only 13% of the nation’s population however accounts for nearly half of all newly documented HIV/AIDS cases.
A people perpetually made the victim of state-sponsored terrorism, as signified by the merciless slayings of its members to include Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell and Oscar Grant — among scores of others — via law enforcement officials sworn to protect all segments of society.
A body perennially abused by an extraordinarily racist criminal justice system, as reflected most recently in the improper and callous execution of Troy Davis.
A collection of citizens however, that served as a vital and stable electoral force which if not for their efforts, the president would have never escaped the 2008 Democratic primaries; a precursor to Obama’s ultimate victory during the general election. Additionally, this group is one whose support the incumbent will need to rely heavily on in his bid for reelection.
In light of this paradoxical circumstance in which an overwhelmingly distressed people have refused to collectively register a single demand upon an elected official, partially of the same race and considerably indebted to them, an explanation as to why such a conundrum exists begs expression.
The answer to this unfortunate and enormously problematic riddle finds its origins in the vestiges of the past – a turbulent history which for the African American signifies considerable oppression.
The history of the African American bespeaks the unparalleled experience of centuries of chattel slavery followed by decades of forced segregation. These institutions served to render Black America’s capacity to exercise its natural rights a mere aspiration.
Additional destabilizing factors such as the assassinations of this group’s leaders — Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Dr. King etc… — functioned to further render this population vulnerable to the will of a larger White society determined to maintain an unbalanced social order predicated on the false notion of their own superiority.
Finally, the crack epidemic along with the current proliferation of a genocidal music in the form of “gangsta rap” have effectively reduced much of Black America to a society in which visions anchored in promise increasingly surrender to conceptions founded in despair.
However, with hope among many Black Americans a fading commodity, a man of unquestionable intellect and oratorical prowess would emerge. A man of African descent who would inspire an entire race — as well as international community — to fathom what most believed an impossibility.
A then-Illinois Junior Senator, Barack Obama, would ascend from obscurity and command the attention of the world in becoming the United States’ first African-American president, the very land in which incalculable crimes against humanity were committed against the race to which he in part belongs. This is a population of Black Americans who have for so long endured and fought against an unrelenting current of racial persecution, however all the while have held on to an intrinsic belief a better day would come.
It is within this context, millions of African Americans have witnessed the rise of Barack Obama, largely believing this figure to exist as the personification of the long-held promise perpetually denied them. Resultantly, the Black masses enamored by the very being of President Obama, have essentially exalted this leader to the status of quasi-deity and have subsequently served as the figurative buffer between him and any force that would seek to compromise the executive’s standing.
Manifestly, Americans of African descent have resolved themselves to collectively enact no measure that would in any manner place political pressure on this charismatic figure to the extent his administration would have to address the dire condition of the group.
This sociopolitical arrangement serves as an inherently disadvantageous position, however one in which African Americans as a function of ethnic pride commixed with confusion have embraced.
Those public figures such as Glen Ford and Dr. Cornel West — among others — who have directed justifiable criticism toward the Obama administration for its refusal to specifically address the destitute standing of Black America have often felt the scorn of those who comprise these legions of White House supporters.
This circumstance stands in light of the fact both thinkers have for years championed Black issues. Moreover, this development illustrates the extent to which the African-American masses desire to remain obedient to an inimical arrangement that by definition serves to place the interests of an elected official above those of the collective.
The African-American community has found a hero it presently celebrates. In so doing the group has chosen largely to sacrifice its own immediate needs in adulation for a public official who has never asked for such favor, offered no specific relief to the body and has even chastised some of its other political leaders.
If the African-American community is to elevate itself from the depths of social anguish an extraordinary transformation must occur.
This people must transition from the status of jubilant but uncritical Obama admirers to a class of constituents, which holds its admiration for this individual, subordinate to its concern for the welfare of the group.
The failure of such an occurrence to evolve will only function to further entrench this people in the abyss of social indigence while its members cling to the illusion of an image they so believe represents freedom.
The Black masses must find the political will to place demands upon their cherished leader for it is through this enactment pieces of the dream may be realized.

Rev. Sharpton FBI Informant… Old News Or Relevant Today
Activist say that without doubt, Reverend Al Sharpton tried to set up for the re-capture the FBI wanted escapee/fugitive Joann Chesimard aka; Assata Shukur!
By Ron Howell, Newsday, Friday 21 October 1988
The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has worked as a federal informant, tried to set up a meeting with black fugitive radical JoAnne Chesimard in 1983, according to activists who said they were approached by Sharpton.
The black activists said they feared Sharpton was trying to deliver Chesimard into the arms of federal agents, but said they had no proof.
One law-enforcement source, who declined to be identified but has detailed knowledge of Sharpton’s activities as an FBI informant, said this week that Sharpton was working as an informant at the time he sought to meet Chesimard. The source said that one of Sharpton’s assignments was to try to lead agents to Chesimard, who escaped from prison in 1979 after being convicted in the killing a New Jersey state trooper.
It wasn’t a big massive operation. It was just a small shot, an everyday deal,
the source said. I would equate it with setting up 10 traps a day trying to catch a fox . . .
He said Sharpton was not a major participant in the search for the woman, who goes by the African name Assata Shakur.
A top FBI official said that Sharpton was not used in any manner to lure Shakur into a trap. This is the first I’m hearing of it, it’s bull———,
FBI Assistant Deputy Director Kenneth Walton, who led the Shakur investigation, said earlier this week.
Sharpton flatly denied trying to make contact with Shakur.
Newsday reported in January that beginning in 1983 Sharpton secretly supplied federal law enforcement agencies with information on boxing promoter Don King, reputed organized crime figures and black leaders and elected officials. And in a two-hour interview, Sharpton admitted to Newsday that he had assisted the government in drug and organized crime cases. He said he also accompanied undercover federal agents wearing body recorders to meetings with various subjects of federal investigations. He said he had allowed the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York to install a tapped telephone in his Brooklyn home.
Sharpton has insisted he never turned over information on black radicals or on King.
This week, Sharpton denied assertions by Ahmed Obafemi, a long-time activist, and Kwame Brathwaite, an activist and photographer who says Sharpton asked him to set up an encounter with Obafemi. Both men say that Obafemi acted as the intermediary in the failed discussions with Sharpton to reach Shakur.
Sharpton called the men liars
and said they were possibly police agents.
He charged they are part of an element in the black community that has lost out . . . and that will fabricate any story out of jealousy because they have no following . . .
Obafemi, the national organizer for the New Afrikan People’s Organization, said Sharpton met with him in Manhattan at least four times in 1983, over a period of about two months. He said that Sharpton offered to donate money to help black revolutionaries running from the law and that Sharpton was particularly interested in setting up a meeting with Shakur, once referred to as the soul
of the Black Liberation Army.
Sharpton told Obafemi he was representing two former Black Panthers, who wanted to see Shakur, according to Obafemi.
The ex-Panthers were supposedly trying to make useful contacts in case they had to flee the country someday, Obafemi said he was told.
The first discussion was that they were close to her, that they had been in the [Black Panther] party with her and that they wanted to talk to her,
Obafemi said. I wanted to find out who they were, but he said they really didn’t want to be known.
Shakur was once a member of the Black Panther Party, but went underground around 1971 because she said she believed the group was being infiltrated by city and federal law enforcement officers.
The 1983 deal fell through at a final meeting when Sharpton insisted that money would be donated only if the two former Panthers could meet Shakur. Failing that, Obafemi said, Sharpton was interested in making any kind of contact
with her or with any of her close associates also on the run from the law. Naturally, I never got back
to him, said Obafemi, whose organization believes that blacks should have their own country within the United States and that they have the right to fight for it.
Obviously we had to feel that a definite possibility existed he was working for the government, and we would have felt that way about him or anybody else who approached us in that manner,
said Chokwe Lumumba, an attorney and chairman of the New Afrikan People’s Organization.
Lumumba had been informed in 1983 by Obafemi about Sharpton’s proposal. The attorney said his organization was more interested in getting information about Sharpton’s motives than in receiving money from him. I can’t say that we were able to make any definite conclusions
about whether Sharpton was acting as an agent for the government, Lumumba said.
Both Lumumba and Obafemi denied knowing where Shakur was at the time.
Sharpton’s first broached his interest in Shakur during a chance encounter with Brathwaite, a black nationalist, Brathwaite said. Brathwaite said he happened to run into Sharpton one day in midtown but he could not remember the month. Already acquainted with each other from entertainment circles, the two men started talking and Sharpton said he wanted to make a donation to Assata,
Brathwaite said.
A day or two later, Brathwaite told Obafemi of the offer. I told him to watch out,
said Brathwaite. I knew that authorities were trying to find out where she [Assata Shakur] was and that they were trying to get close to somebody who was close to her . . . And then I just knew that he’s always been a hustler.
Last year, Newsday disclosed that Shakur was given political asylum in Cuba and was living there with her daughter, now 14 years old. She is probably the most sought-after of the 1970s radicals linked to bank robberies and police killings over a 10-year span.
The specific amount of the contribution Sharpton said he was prepared to make in 1983 on behalf of the ex-Panthers was not discussed, Obafemi said; but Sharpton said the prospective contributors gained the money by ripping off the system,
Obafemi recalled.
He said that at least two of the meetings occurred in a luxurious apartment at 30 Lincoln Plaza, near Lincoln Center. That was the building where, according to a law enforcement source and a report published in the Feb. 2, 1988 edition of The Village Voice, a federal agent using the name Victor Quintana set up an apartment in 1983 or earlier to lure boxing world denizens suspected of illegal activity. Quintana in that year ensnared Sharpton into working for the FBI, New York Newsday reported in January.
The Village Voice article reported that apartment was on the 29th floor, but Obafemi could not recall the floor on which he had his rendezvous with Sharpton. Sharpton lives in Brooklyn and Obafemi said he did not explain why Sharpton had access to the apartment. He made me think it was his,
said Obafemi. I was saying (to myself), ’What kind of money must they have to have a spot in here.’ He had the keys and everything.
Sharpton denied this week ever being in the building.
Obafemi said that up until 1983 he knew Sharpton only as the head of a youth organization, the National Youth Movement, and as someone with vague connections in the entertainment world.
Obafemi is the ex-husband of Nehanda Obafemi, once known as Cheri Laverne Dalton, who is still wanted by the federal government in connection with the notorious Brink’s robbery which took place seven years ago yesterday. She is allegedly connected to the group of black and white revolutionaries convicted in the Brink’s heist. A guard and two police officers were killed in that incident, which took place upstate near Nyack.
In 1983, Obafemi was busy trying to gain support in the black community for the people arrested in the Brink’s case. In October of that year, several blacks and whites were convicted in that robbery and in the highly planned breakout of Shakur from prison in 1979.
The law enforcement source implicating Sharpton in the hunt for Assata Shakur said that Sharpton was also, secondarily, trying to help agents get other fugitives, especially Mutulu Shakur, who was still on the run at that time. Mutulu Shakur, no relation to Assata, was later apprehended and convicted in connection with the Brink’s robbery and the escape of Assata Shakur.
Robert E. Kessler contributed to this story.
[***The following appeared in the City version***Brathwaite is the brother of Elombe Brath, an official of a black nationalist organization called the Patrice Lumumba Coalition. Brath and several associates have been opposed to Sharpton because of his FBI ties. ]

No Longer Stuck… in the Valley of the DOLLS
This piece is being written specifically to hopefully shed luminance on the BLACK DOLL, WHITE DOLL Syndrome:
Why a Black child will chose a White Doll over a Black doll. This started first coming to the world’s wonderment when in 1939, husband and wife psychologists, Kenneth Clark and Mamie Phipps, devised a study where it was shown that Black children would chose a White doll before choosing a Black one. Said case study was propelled to international attention though when from his tireless effort Attorney Thurgood Marshall prevailed in getting The highest court to overturn the ‘Separate But Equal’ doctrine in place at that time. That time being 2:00p.m. May the 17, 1954. The case had been Brown vs. the Board Of Education. Which took place in the city of Topeka. In the State Of Kansas. In the Country of The United States o America. With a gargantuan force that came to decidedly break the camel’s back; the Attorney for the Organization that initiated the suit, and The Organization’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund Advisor, the VERY Honorable Thurgood Marshall, argued successfully for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Speaking for The Supreme Court, himself, and on behalf of the other Justices, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the land Earl Warren, made the long awaited, though tearfully prayed for, announcement in favor of the NAACP!
Attorney Thurgood Marshall had used the experiment with the dolls, and the Black children to put the stamp of victory on his case for The NAACP.
Now comes Henry Jackson. He contends that this phenomenon is no where near any phenomenon. He intends to show the Reader (jury) that this LEARNED BEHAVIOR is just that LEARNED! And it is gotten by these Black children from two (2) sources. One of them you already know, but did not know that you already knew it. The other one he shall explain to both you, and the Research Community et al.
NUMBER ONE: The first, and by far more evil culprit of the two are the MEDIA. This is to include different varieties of hidden agenda children’s games also. And that Black athletics, and musical artists are just as well at fault, and share a huge amount of the blame, therefore guilt, is without doubt paramount. I do not know if their conduct is dictated by their handlers or themselves. But then too it probably goes back to the Giant MEDIA Empire. As Black heros and heroines gain fame and money; they start to use the Skin Lightening procedures available. And their hair progressively continuously goes from black to a progressive shade of blond. Then their processed/relaxed/permed/multi-colored hair is seen on the MEDIA’s magazine covers, etc. The entire gamut is transversed from nose jobs to bleached epidermises! All unnatural. What? And you don’t think the children are watching? Then many seek to marry a lighter hued person then themselves. The Black child sees all of this. Some celebrities marry White! Yes, this too the child sees! The Legendary Michael Jackson went 100%. Michael ‘became’ the White doll! Emphasis emphatically added!
I think the child at times gets the wrong information from their parents. In that they do talk about, and against each other. Black parents might bad talk another Black individual, upset, but not really meaning any real harm. But the young child does not distinguish the difference. All she/he hears are derogatory terms such as black bastard, black bitch, nigger, motherfuckin’ nappy headed this and that. And very sadly, the list goes on! Then society wonders how children are able to profane like they have an Academicianship Certificate in Profanity. Well they get it from you the guardian(s), or other children who in turn got it from their parent(s); or the all encompassing MEDIA. Oh,oh! There is that word again.
MEDIA! Advertisers target, by way of the MEDIA, the money! Who has the money? White folks! The lowest minority of folks have the highest majority of the wealth. Now, it is all about the all mighty dollar. So the MEDIA has to make those who have the money look even better so that this group can put money into the pockets of the advertisers so that they then put money into the pockets of the manufacturers who in turn put even more money into the overflowing pockets of the MEDIA…. World control and domination. Confused yet? Allow me to explain then please. If you will.
The MEDIA by way of hook or crook make the World’s shot callers look good. It, the MEDIA, make disappear the sins of the CLASS ELITE. They too are White. These Elites send troops into other Countries to slaughter the poor populace in the name of greed. In the name of domination. Tyranny! The intention is to divide and control dark pigmented people!
That is the meaning in the arcane MASONIC SYMBOL the SQUARE, and the RULE! Divide and conquer! Divide and conquer. Divide and RULE! Divide and control the World! The SCULL and the CROSS BONES! The black flag of the Jolly Roger! Anarchy but with a knowing CONTROLLING HAND!
The News Conglomerate knows not to broadcast that News about the take over of Nations done solely for the out right theft of that Country’s Prime Material ! The MEDIA cleans up the mess though through lies and propaganda. White Washed, they the thieves come out all white and brand new. Then more Use of tax payer’s money in planning, and equiping for the next invasion. The next take over of a defenseless sovereign non White Nation!
These atrocities to other peoples are not heard on the News Programs though. What is heard is about the Black homeless guy with all odds against him, harmlessly asleep on the cold sidewalk. That is who, that is what is captioned on television’s Morning News Cast that the child overhears just before the Black children are about to walk out of the door on their way to school where for hours on end very little if anything is ever said about any Black beings that might have done something (anything at all) to benefit society. The talk of the town is about the Black homeless guy, the Black shoot out, the Black drug bust, the Black pregnancy/abortion rate. The Black unemployment rate because Blacks are lazy.
Never mention to these same Black children that it was their forefathers that coerced the White men (cavemen) Neanderthals, and White women (cavewomen) out of the caves of the Northern Caucus Mountains of Europe, and taught them to walk erect! Like we [ to use their term ] BLACK Homo Sapiens walk(ed)…. No where is it told how Black people showed these people that it was okay to wash the layers of caked on filth, and dirt from their bodies. Because these people erroneously thought that the filthiness warded off sickness! Never does History mention how men from all over the known world went to Amexem, Thebes, Wo’se, Nowe, Kemit, and Alkebulan. All different names for the same place AFRICA! They went to learn the secrets of greatness held only by the Black geniuses of Amexem, of Africa! These men traveled many miles in order to learn at the feet of the WISDOM MASTERS! To learn at BLACK feet! The Great Alexander went and stole some of this great knowledge. Where he took it to was to the yet White heathens of Europe. Where through the arch plagiarizer Aristotle; light (knowledge) was imparted to the very savage, and backwards Countries of Europe. These priceless stolen scrolls, and artifacts, are now housed in the GREAT VATICAN City! Without doubt the abode of SATAN. THE ANTI-BLACK RACE, ANTI-CHRIST demon! Who along with his vile, evil cohorts (for now) own the Planet Earth! The Planet Earth was built from the ingenuity, the sweat, the blood, the abuse, and the tears of the Black MAN! Tell those Black children this bit of information too oh ye diabolical manipulators of the MEDIA. Let it be known that it is you also you bastard MEDIA you, that control thus corrupt the Black children’s purposely designed to be debilitating – text books!
By all of this good White people, charade, the Black child’s Psyche is bombarded 24/7 with the White’s faultless perfection, with the White’s faultless qualities. And the Scientists do not know why the Black child consistently over the years, after the many studies, still chooses to this day; to pick the White doll? Hell! Under these conditions that we live Reader, give this same test to some grown Black folks, and I deplore you to PLEASE not feel offended when you see one or two of them walking around the Test Site smiling, hugging on a White doll as well. Looking at the genital area to ascertain if it is a male or female doll; and if it pees!
NUMBER TWO: When African children interact with Caucasian children here too key data is gleaned as to why the tiny African hand reaches out first for the Caucasian doll!
When African children are together unsupervised a hierarchy is soon worked out among them. The toughest ones get most of the marbles not having to ever risk loosing any of her/his marbles. This same scenario of pecking orders applies for unsupervised African siblings in their homes as well. This standard holds true for Caucasian children too by the way.
A different story unfolds though when these two groups of children are placed together unsupervised mind you! Unsupervised an African child that might have been ostracized by his/her perspective group in the other sample group just might turn out to be the dominate one in the weaker group. But assuredly not the child on or near the bottom rung for sure.
This must also have to do with the proven scientific fact. That an African child develops much faster than a Caucasian child with the very same birth comparison.
So, back to my point. The African child who was bullied in his/her group is king or queen in the other group. And that information is not lost on the African child. This child was not appreciated by her/his peers, but overnight is PRESIDENT of the sandbox when playing with Caucasian children. And is sudden endowed with Executive Powers!
Therefore when asked which doll this Black child would prefer, of course the child chooses the doll from the group that gives no negative feedback to the child. THIS DOLL REMINDS THE CHILD OF THE OTHER LITTLE ONES WHERE HE/SHE REIGNS SUPREME! Their buddies!
When asked which doll (except for coloration the dolls are replicas i.e. exactly alike) is the uglier of the two the African child points towards the black doll. Of course. No Caucasian child has ever with frowning face, and bulging eyes taken anything from the African child; that was always the other African children! The BAD children! It was the other ‘mean’ African children who took his/her toys, and shoved her/him out of the sandbox face down scratched and bleeding. Pride gone!
What sounds feasible to me as well, in the cases where The African child chose the African doll, is that that particular child is a dominate one. And for all likelihood could have just as well chosen a Caucasian doll as well. It would merely depend on what frame of mind the child was in, when asked the question which doll they preferred. It really would not matter for he or she is not intimidated by either group. But of my examples Numbers One or Number Two, Number One; the MEDIA. overwhelmingly supersedes Number two as the far worse villain by far.
Wake up Black Race! I beseech you! I am hollering! If you do not do for yourselves; one for the other, you are collectively DOOMED! Black people is it that one eye has been lost due to the catharses of SLAVERY? And you have a vision deficit in the remaining eye! Can you not see that you have to hold each other aloft or parish individually? Can you not see that you, you and you, are your very own salvation? That you and you are your own DEITIES! If ALL OF YOU Black folks can not see it then can you not intuitate then that god (sic) has already chosen. WAKE UP! You all’s god has chosen The WHITE DOLL!
So what is it Black people? The Blue Pill or The Red Pill? Well? Which one? If you do not decide it will be decided for you! Trust me. You DO NOT want that! That is funny!
Lastly, I wonder was there any criteria in these studies ever put in place to prevent the African child from acting in a given way, knowledgeable that the adult observers were in expectation of a specific performance from them? That would taint (contaminate) the study in such a manner as to actually nullify said results.
Upon ending, and in my mind anyway; I whole heartedly believe that I have without reserve defended my Dissertation Thesis. In other words I have proven what I claimed to achieve in my initial theses statements.
Post Script: Should any Black person or White person feel slighted or bitten by this article <\/> too damn bad! Get over it! For this too shall pass!
