So Who Really Has Who In Chains?
In another silly, ill-advised, racist misspeak by Vice President Joe Biden, Uncle Joe told a predominantly Black audience (in Ebonics no less) that a President Romney/Republican administration would put “Y’ALL back in chains.”
Since when did Joe Biden toss the Queen’s English overboard for slang? I know Obama is biracial and has a race card by default, but who gave Biden a race card?
[And as an aside just because one is biracial does not mean they should automatically get the coveted race card. We mixed folk ain’t all born into Black liberation! But that discussion is for another time.]
Here is an interesting observation; Uncle Joe does not use altered dialect with whites or other groups. He does not speak much Spanish to Hispanic assemblies. Why did he feel it was permissible to “get comfortable” when formally addressing African Americans?
Once again Negros get the back end of the donkey’s…..you know what I mean. We sat idly by while Obama scolded us and told us we were lazy and to take off our slippers. Now we allow a white man (with a history of racially cantankerous messages) to “jive talk” us? What next? Hills will resume her southern slang when she hits the stump? Why not just add black face and make it a real minstrel show! Go all out!
Outrage from African Americans, “hell to the naw!” in my “Madea” voice.
Black folk don’t usually utter a complaint when they perceive the messenger to be Democratic or of the left because they are always on “their side. Let that have been Romney or Ryan talkin’ chains, we would be talking about crucifixion times or what country to exile them for eternity!
We would not be side stepping this with a “birther” joke. And yes it was a joke. The same joke told by Leno, Kimmel, Fallon, Letterman, Maher, etc… All made the same type of birther joke, all white, and no one made a peep about racism then. So don’t come claiming it now! Unless, you are okay with being a hypocrite or Democratic shill, you can’t claim it to a logical thinking person ever!
If a racist act is a racist act, than it must always be a racist act not when it suits us or makes us feel better. Logic, simple logic. What is unacceptable for one white man must be unacceptable for all white men otherwise it looks self-serving and sheepish. Why do I feel like Mr. Spock could really be an asset right now? #LLAP!
With all that being said, here is an interesting article for us ponder about who really has us in chains.
If you see the light, you know that answer very well!
Preacher Says Biden and Democrats are the Ones Putting Black People in Chains
A pastor claims that Vice President Joe Biden’s remarks about Republicans putting black people in chains was not off the mark. But the twist is that the pastor himself believes that it’s the Democrats who have been seeking to keep people in chains, not the Republicans.
Rev. CL Bryant, who does not appear to be a very big fan of President Barack Obama, is one of the people behind the new documentary “Runaway Slave.” He says that the Democrats have been controlling black people for a very long time and kept them in slavery with social programs, pandering and taking their vote for granted.
“You’re already there!” said Bryant. “Chained to the highest unemployment rate, chained to debt, chained to a 40 percent abortion rate!”
Speaking in Virginia to a mostly African American audience, Biden said that the Republicans are going to “put y’all back in chains” by letting banks write their own rules.
The Republicans immediately fired back, stating that Biden has gone too far in his comments.
“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama campaign has reached a new low,” Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul said in a statement. “The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”
Bryant feels that part of the reason that black people are suffering so much is because they pin too many of their hopes onto the Democratic Party.
“This is a reflection of the history of the Democratic party. Their hypocrisy toward blacks was reinforced by this statement made by VP Joe Biden when he used the party’s timeless tactic: fear,” Bryant said. “Just another attempt to enslave the vote of a people they have long taken for granted. Also that the VP from the east coast would say ‘Put chains on y’all’ is evidence of blatant, shameless and misguided pandering to Black folks.”

The police chief of East Haven, Connecticut has stepped down after four of his officers were arrested and charged with violating the rights of Latino citizens.
According to The LA Times, federal authorities began investigating East Haven police in 2009 after local activists said that police had used its power to abuse Latinos. Last December, the Department of Justice released what it found, saying there was a pattern of discrimination at the police department during the period of Jan. 1, 2009, to Dec. 31, 2010.
According to the indictment, some of those patterns included the assault of individuals while they were handcuffed, unreasonable searches and seizures, and arresting and detaining without probable cause. One of the officers reportedly slapped a man handcuffed in his car, and another threw a man to the ground and kicked him while he was handcuffed.
The investigation also found 40% of all traffic stops by one officer involved Latinos. East Haven’s population of Latino drivers was about 8.3% at the time.
The indictment also accuses unnamed union leaders of trying to block misconduct investigations.
Chief Len Gallo’s resignation was announced last Monday at a news conference, with Mayor Joseph Maturo reportedly saying he was putting together a search committee to find a replacement.
But wait, it gets better.
Right after federal officials announced charges against the four officers, the same mayor was asked by reporters, “What are you doing for the Latino community today?” He replied, “I might have tacos when I go home. I’m not quite sure yet.”
The governor spoke up in outrage soon after.
“The comments by East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo are repugnant,” the governor said in a statement. “They represent either a horrible lack of judgment or worse, an underlying insensitivity to our Latino community that is unacceptable. Being tired is no excuse. He owes an apology to the community, and more importantly, he needs to show what he’s going to do to repair the damage he’s done. And he needs to do it today.”
Maturo later issued an apology on a radio program. “It was stupid, it was insensitive and I gave my detractors … a reason to make matters worse with a ‘gotcha’ and an insensitive and stupid answer to something I should have never said,” Maturo said. “Unfortunately, I let the stress of the situation get the best of me and inflamed what is already a serious and unfortunate situation.”
What do you think punishment will be for the officers? Should the mayor step down also? Can police officers be coerced into such behavior by colleagues and employees or is this a willful choice? Will we all just get along ever?
UPDATE: Kenosha Co. Sheriff David Beth tells the media Friday night that the threats at UW-Parkside are a hoax.
Beth said one of the African-American female students on the so-called hit-list admitted to investigators she wrote the list.
Beth said charges were expected Monday.
I think I am more disturbed in the fact that a black student would pull a hoax like this. This is one of the reasons why progress is so hard to make and why allegations of true events like this are swept under the rug or laughed at.
Our schools have been desegregated. We have a black president. Some of you thought all was well.
The start of Black History Month has been ruined by acts of ignorance and hatred.
A noose made of rubber bands (the picture above is the actual noose) was found in a common area of a suite at UW-Parkside Wednesday night. A black female student reported the noose, and on Thursday received a threatening note near her door that listed the names of several black students that were “going to die”.
Thursday night, UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford told an audience of about 400 students, staff and faculty that “UW-Parkside will not tolerate hate of any kind”. UW-Parkside Police Chief James Heller said immediate steps have been taken to ensure the safety of all UW-Parkside students. With help from officers from the UWM Police Department and deputies from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, patrols have been increased in residence halls, parking areas, and the main academic complex.
It is unknown who wrote the note and hung the noose.
It amazes me how people love to say how lazy black people are, how dumb and uneducated we are, how we are just welfare sucking babies who don’t know the value of work, yet we are being harrassed and chased out of school.
Many of the students have reportedly packed their bags and left the campus for the year.
What does it take to be seen as an equal? It is the most painful hurt to be hated because of the amount of melanin in your skin.
I’ve done some reading on comment boards where this story is posted and many white commentators are saying, “Oh this noose was made out of rubber bands, not real rope, it’s no big deal” and “Well at least they didn’t hang anyone” and “Don’t make this bigger than it is”. These are the same people that wanted to “send all blacks back to Africa” after the “racially motivated” attacks against whites at State Fair.
DO NOT allow the media to sweep this under the rug!
Please show your support for our brothers and sisters trying to get an education and change this marred society, whether you are white, black, Hispanic, Asian…we must unite to let these people know this will NOT be tolerated. There are many white students on campus who have joined the No H8 Fight. As a college student who was chased away from a college in rural Indiana from similar acts, I plan to take a stand as well.
To my brothers and sisters at Parkside: DON’T give up. Continue to reach for the stars and get your education and achieve success. We let them win when we throw in the towel. Don’t fight back with anger, success is the best revenge. You have a right to remain on that campus and learn. Education is one of the main weapons we need in this fight. You are not alone.
CAPITA (City At Peace In The Arts)
Inspired by a distinctive movement for racial justice in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin.
Since 1990, CAPITA Productions (City At Peace In The Arts) has been presenting a Black History Program yearly for thousands in the Greater Milwaukee Area.
This year we are adding a very special and overdue segment which will celebrate those brave marchers and demonstrators, from all backgrounds, who risked their lives for the cause of civil rights, especially in Milwaukee. It will be a dramatic reenactment of the Underground Railroad, prominent in the Waukesha area; the escaped slave Joshua Grover, and Fr. Jim Groppi’s “March on Milwaukee”.
For 200 consecutive nights hundreds marched for open housing through rain, snow and fear of physical attacks. These heroes have not been properly honored until now. Their stories should be known by our youth as well as everyone in Milwaukee and across the nation.
We will celebrate those who lived this experience, sharing the stories of those who participated in the demonstrations, served on the NAACP Youth Council, Commandos, and all organizations that led or joined in some way, the historic Milwaukee’s Civil Rights Movement.
