WTH? Fox News Has Black Commentators On & They Don’t Talk About Race???

Shout out to my man who emailed me this clip… I spilled my warm milk while watching this clip because Fox News had Black People on the TV that weren’t debating a race issue. Smart, beautiful and accomplished Black Women on Fox News WOW!!!!

Those sisters looked so good JTH even acted like he was cool during the segment. Good to see him doing more than just being an attack dog for the right, good debate from all three on the economy.

The host was even leaning forward talking to those sisters… hmmm.

The following audio clips are portions of a 40 minute conversation I had with a White, Conservative Female (age late 50′s) the morning of August 19, 2010. She contacted The Drum asking us to get her story heard regarding her disappointment with 620 WTMJ AM not promoting talker James T. Harris into a regular full time host.

Eleven months ago, I commented on JTH needing to assume his rightful place at WTMJ and was roundly criticized by many of JTH’s flock (read here). So it comes as a great surprise that one of his own would come to me to share their thoughts and side with how I see things. Life is truly ironic at times.

Let me add some context to the audio clips you’ll listen to. First, 620 WTMJ longtime host Jonathan Green announced he is retiring at the end of the year. He is the host of a program that runs daily (3p-6p).  Second, a supporter of James T. Harris has been calling 620 WTMJ for over two years asking about JTH getting a full time host position. Upon hearing Green is resigning, she immediately called (2x) the station’s program director. Third, someone other than the pd returned her calls and engaged her in a conversation about JTH and how he got his start at the station. Fourth, JTH’s supporter was upset to learn that her favorite host was not getting the timeslot and that he had not earned it. That is when she decided to contact The Drum and share her account.

More background, JTH’s supporter doesn’t understand how after four years he hasn’t ascended further than weekend duty. She pointed out to The Drum daily talk show host Jeff Wagner’s career path posted on www.620wtmj.com as one that accelerated to full time host within months after a fill in position.

- Jeff Wagner joined 620 WTMJ in the summer of 1998 as fill in host of Midday with Charlie Sykes and the host of The Jeff Wagner Show on Saturday mornings. Jeff fit in so well at WTMJ, he joined the station full time in November 1998 as host of his own weekday show, which airs Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m. -

Audio Clip 1: JTH supporter explains her reason for calling 620 WTMJ Program Director, what she said and talks about the conversation she had with a station representative when he tells her JTH will not get his own daily show. 

Audio Clip 2: JTH supporter responds to my question if she felt race played a role in JTH not getting the full time job. She states she isn’t sure, but something about the situation leaves her uncomfortable.


If what the JTH supporter is stating is correct, James T. Harris was spit on by the 620 rep by sharing this information with a caller. How is it that anyone can call a company and learn intimate, professional details about an employee? Let’s assume what she shared is factual for a moment… this 620 rep is claiming ownership over JTH’s success and is acting as if he’s owed something. Are you telling me that this brother doesn’t even get the respect to interview or audition for the timeslot? What kind of ish is that?

I told JTH’s supporter that I see it through a different filter. When I hear words like “earned it” in this context, I think that is coded language directed at JTH thinking he’s bigger than he is. I’m surprised JTH wasn’t called “uppity” after hearing that the 620 rep feels that he made JTH’s career and that he wouldn’t even be in radio without his benevolence. Yes, I am “uppity” and proud of it… more of US should be.

I cannot wait to see who gets the job since we now know it sure as hell isn’t JTH according to his supporter.  I’ll have much more to say about this ish then.

So tell me what you think. Is JTH getting done dirty? Or has he not put enough work in to earn a permanent gig? Come on now let me hear from ALL you JTH followers that were up my you know what last year.

On August 19, 2010 the same James T. Harris supporter wanted to share their thoughts with him regarding a full time host job on WTMJ. The Drum was cc’d on the email and given permission to publish it. Here is that email.

Hi James, We have met in the past at Tea Party’s and my husband and I had the pleasure to see you at Professional Speaking Engagement last year. Don’t worry I don’t expect you to remember me because there is always such a huge crowd around you.

I want to let you know about a phone conversation I had with Joe Scialsa yesterday afternoon. It was odd because I left a voice mail message for Tom Land but Joe is the one who returned the call.

For the last 2 years I have emailed and left voice mail for Tom Land to ask him why you do not have a full time radio show on WTMJ. He has always replied that there was no opening. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Jonathan Green was leaving. Wow I thought, that can be James spot. It would be perfect for him and all of his listeners. So I called right away and left Tom a voice mail message. I told him that he would be hearing from me regularly until you got that spot. That was about two weeks ago.

Yesterday at 9:30am I was bored with Glenn Beck so I switched to TMJ and I heard Jeff Wagner’s voice. I immediately turned off the radio. I do not care at all for him. I wondered once again why YOU weren’t filling in for Charlie or at the very least for Jeff.

On impulse I picked the phone up and left Tom Land 2 voice mail messages. Yes I talked so long I had to call back, LOL, I was on a mission! I told Tom that I was disappointed that you weren’t filling in. I asked him if he was going to put you in the daily 3:00pm slot and I asked him why he doesn’t see what a gold mine he has in you. Than I did the unthinkable, I said “look others have questioned this and I am going to just come out and say it, it this racial? are you racist?” I said I don’t know how it can be because James is on your station, but why doesn’t he rate a full time job. I also said “maybe I need to come down and protest on Capital Drive, if nothing else maybe it will light a fire under you and make you call me back.

I pointed out how successful and well liked you are on all of the Sister Stations you have done fill-in shows for. I told him that someone put a facebook site out there for you called

Give James T. Harris a Daily Show on WTMJ(are you even aware of that site ?) I left my phone number and asked him to please call me back.

About ah half hour later Joe Scialsa called and said he got my message, let me just say that we had a 10-15 minute conversation and I never could figure out why he and not Tom returned the call. Anyway he was nice and professional at first. He told me how much he liked you and that he took you from being a caller to hosting your own show. He said you had raw talent and that he took you and molded you and gave you his time slot. Than he said “I made James who he is, James wouldn’t be on the radio any where if it weren’t for me. I actually laughed at that.

It seemed like he owned you and was taking full credit for how you have turned out. I found that arrogant and not necessary to my questions. Than he took a different tone and said “I have never been so insulted in my life, you called me a racist.” And he just kept saying it and he kept saying “I am not a racist.” I had to keep telling him to calm down and I asked him to turn his liberal mind down a few notches(LOL) and listen to what I really said. I asked if this was racial and if he(well really Tom) was a racist. I said I didn’t call anyone a racist. He said it was the same thing and how dare I do that.

I told him not to worry that if I did come down to protest it would be calm and non-racial. Than he started threatening me with giving you my phone number(I told him to go ahead)he said that you would be “disgusted” with a listener that would dare to ask such a question. Well I never did hear from you so I guess he didn’t make good on that threat!

I gave him all of my reasons for you deserving a full time job and even though I had to admit I have never been in radio I told him that I am the consumer and I know what I am talking about. He told me I am only “one” consumer and I said wrong again there are many like me and we all want you on the air daily. One last time I asked him why he won’t give you a full time job and do you know what he said “James hasn’t EARNED it!” I laughed at that too. I told him he was stupid not to realize how good you are. He never would answer my question on how you could earn that job. Than he started falling apart and kept saying I have to hang up now and a few minutes later we did.

I am truly amazed that a professional in management would tell any listener that you hadn’t “earned it.” It is such a negative thing to say, just so inappropriate. I think Joe might be suffering from a little envy, he found you but your natural talent outweighs what he did for you. You have been on FOX for over two years now and do a beautiful job of it. You are known Nationally.

Look I am so sorry that this has turned into a book. I hope you don’t think I did anything wrong. I have been in your corner for 2 years trying to get Tom to see what a great job you do and I have seen and heard for myself how much people connect to you immediately.

Don’t feel you have to email me back. I am sure you are busy. I just wanted you to know I am one of many who want to see you get the shot you deserve.

Also that conversation with Joe was so disturbing and unprofessional that I thought you should know about it.

On August 18, 2010 we received the following email from a person very supportive of 620 AM talk show host James T. Harris.

Hi, I am getting ready to comment on the Milwaukee Drum article you put out a few weeks ago. It is the one about Jonathan Green leaving TMJ and James T. Harris getting his spot. I just had a very interesting phone conversation with Joe Scialsa and I can tell you without a doubt that James will not be getting a full time gig. It is amazing and so unprofessional what he actually said to me but I will let you read it in my comments. Please email back if you have an questions after you read it.

The author of this email asked me to call her so she could share with me details of a phone conversation she had with a representative of 620 AM. Our conversation lasted over 40 minutes and she agreed to allow me to record our conversation and share portions of the audio with you readers (will be posted in pt. 3).

Fox News “Go-To” Black Guy James T. Harris On Shirley Sherrod

Will Fox News be asking James T. Harris to appear on their airwaves when there is no longer a Black President? Will they ask him on to discuss any issues not related to President Obama? Can someone forward (or post) a link to him appearing on Fox News when he isn’t discussing something closely (or remotely) tied to the president of Black People?

Anyway, what do you think about his comments regarding Shirley Sherrod? On point or not?

Last thing… JTH what’s up with the thumb ring and two earrings? That must be a Milwaukee Metrosexual look for the new conservatives. Do you JTH.
