The answer to your question is YES.
But I’d like to add that the power is there already there. This Spring the following seats on the Milwaukee School Board are up for election – Tim Petersons (District 1), Jeff Spence (District 2), Michael Bonds (District 3), Terrence Falk (District 8) and Bruce Thompson (At Large Director). Here’s link to the school district’s map.
Secondly, I’d suggest keeping an eye on how state legislators vote in the upcoming session. We should see some legislation expanding parents choice in education with the expansion of the voucher and virtual schools and strengthening the charter option. If your legislator votes against these options, don’t let them slide in 2012.
