Milwaukee-

On Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M, the Milwaukee Fire Department and the Boys Scouts of America will be sponsoring a city-wide “Open House” to showcase Explorer Post 875. The open house will take place at the Milwaukee Fire Department Training Academy located at 6680 N. Teutonia Ave. If you know any between the ages of 14 – 20, or a young adult, that is interested in finding out more about Firefighting this meeting is for you.

This year’s annual “Open House” will be held in conjunction with Explorer Post 875’s “Year in Review and Christmas Party”. Parents please join us and meet other parents of active explorers. Students, come meet other students that are actively participating in our program. We will have videos and pictures of our events over the last year and be discussing our plans for the 2012 season. Come see what we are all about!

Milwaukee Fire Department Explorer Post 875 is a group of young men and women that participate in different firefighting activities, they learn at our training academy located at 6680 North Teutonia Avenue. Training sessions are generally held the first Saturday of each month and run from 9am until noon. Students are taught firefighting basics and given the opportunity to participate in a multitude of supervised drills. Students also become active in their community by working at different volunteer events and gatherings.

If you or someone you know is interested, please stop in and meet an Explorer and an advisor who will be happy to answer all your questions. Any new members will be asked to pay a yearly $15.00 fee and fill out an Exploring youth application if they are 17 yrs old and below their parent or guardian has to sign the bottom of the application before attending the first meeting. The reason youth fill out an Exploring Youth Application is to ensure they are listed in the Boys Scouts of America Liability Insurance if in the event an accident should take place in the location or the Explorer Post meeting. If the youth is 18yrs and older they can fill out their own application and sign for themselves.

If you are unable to make one our meeting you can contact the Post 875 advisor directly.
