Politics & Poetry event planned for this evening at City Hall

Inspiration and illumination in the form of spoken word poetry will fill the City Hall rotunda this evening during Politics & Poetry, and Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs invites members of the public to be a part of the free, public event.

The event is tonight (Thursday, February 4th,) in the City Hall rotunda, 200 E. Wells St., from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors should use the Market St. entrance on the east side of the building.

The fourth such event aimed at encouraging civic engagement and participation, Politics & Poetry will feature politically-charged poetry from some of Milwaukee’s best spoken word artists and politicians.

The event will be hosted by local activist Ajamou Butler, and will feature music from the Heal the Hood Soul Collective Band and Timothy Cole.

Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the event; these will be donated to the House of Peace, a Capuchin community service organization in operation since 1968 on Milwaukee’s near north side at 1702 W. Walnut Street.
